I would value anyones opinion on the reliability of these two cars.I am talking about the 03 models roughly but i am torn between the two.I heard it on the rumour mill that it costs £1000 for a tdci clutch and £200 for the rear bushes but i have heard nothing about the vectra dtis.

I would always choose a Mondeo over a Vectra.

More room, and, in my experience, far less maintainance.

Mondeos are known for the fuel pump problems ever 80k or so!

I'd go for the Vectra every time - the Vectra seems to be good overall, any model, any year.

I wouldn't involve myself with a Mondeo when it gets close to 80,000miles. They're usually fine up to 80k, but after that I'd definitely want out.

Not only have the Mondeo's got fuel pump problems, they have a major issue with the rear sub frames, and ford do not want to know

You haven't lived fella.

Two mates have had them, and they have never been more happier when they went. One up in smoke, and the other to someone they didn't like. :D

mine only had 75k when my company toke it off me
but i had a good 3 years with no major porblems at all

Sod it,think i,ll stick with the mondeo or possibly a skoda tdi. I have driven both over the last 4years(2years each)which were new company cars and must admit could not fault eithier of them. Apart from normal servicing the only things that needed replacing was a hazard flasher unit(twice)on the skoda and a bottom pulley on the mondeo. I,ve also noticed that octavia tdis are holding their price very well, which is the sign of a sought after car ](*,) :-k :)
