Time for a change of cabs again and thinking of going for the volkswagen transporter shuttle lwb se 130 (automatic) Is FLEP still on here and hows his transporter doing these days? Fare and a half for5.6.7 seaters here now so time for some extra dosh to be made! Shuttle costs a fair bit ! ( £26500) but you get what u pay for i guess! Was looking at TX4 but kind of gone off that one with some of the reviews and problems ,although a few on the steets here and no problems and drivers loving them! |

Yep still on here. VW still going good, only a few teething probs along the way, all sorted out by VW, still drives like a new vehicle. I would buy another one without a thought. 3 yrs old this week so my waranty ran out on Monday (keeping my fingers crossed from now on). Only regret was not getting the long wheelbase. Worth checking if VW are still offering 20% off for taxi drivers (phone a few vw commercial dealers) it means you could pick up a shuttle 2.5 for around £17,000 otr, then get it converted yourself with Bernard Mansel etc (discount was on the vehicle only and not the conversion)

Don't know where to get one for £17,000!!!! cheapest was from volkswagen and it was £23,000 Was quoted £24,100 for shuttle se lwb with a few extras,alloys,privacy glass,powered doors! |

Not jumping on any bandwagon! I have a WAV but only 4 seater (had 7 seater before ) and want one again for extra business that i can get! I guess there are more jumping to 7 seaters with the fare and a half thing but i just miss the 7 seater and the protection form the bulkhead screen from all the morons we pick up! (work mostly nights) |

What I mean't was that many saloon guys are going down this route and the returns may not be worth the extra investment. If you have a WAV plate then you will have to spend more anyway so it's not such an issue. I would still wait to see the council's reaction to December's court of session appeal before making any commitment. No telling how it will go 
I don't know to mutch about the VW shuttle but I've had 2 sharans and liked them both. If it's a VW you should be ok. Have the hack approved this one? |

Had a sharan myself a good few years back and quite like them but at £26,000 it is way too much money! I think there are maybe about 4 or 5 shuttles on the road and are passed ok by the hackney office (but the roof lining does need cut for extra height for wheelchair access! As for the court case can only see it going one way and thats all WAV!! |

Skippy, the hack is the taxi inspection unit of the council. You are correct each type of WAV has to be approved before it is licenced by the council. They are inspected first at the hack, with councillors usually going with the hack's recommendations. As for the roof lining, that's one of the council's recommendations on headroom /access. |
