Hi guys The manual gearbox on my 55 plate TX2 has started to get noisy. I am based in Kent so can anyone advise me of some places that could supply and fit a recon box.I don't really wanna use a LTI dealer as I only intend keeping it for another year before replacing it so I would prefer a recon box just to keep costs down. I am quite happy to travel to London or surrounding areas if needed but would like to get it done before Xmas if possible. I have no info on potential cost so any help or advice would be gratefully received. RT |

Taxi Gearbox Services in Camberwell New Road,SE5 (entrance in Wyndham Road) specialises in automatic gearboxes (the boss drives a manual...) is a good place to start. Give them a ring on 020 7703 8642 and ask if they can help or do they know of a garage who deals with manuals. |

I was given the number of Helical Gearbox Services in Brockley, SE London. I dropped the gearbox in to them at 9.30 and it was repaired and picked up at 3.30 the same day and for around £400. LTI claimed that there was not a TX2 manual gearbox on the shelf anywhere until mid January 09 which is an absolute [edited by admin] take. Anyway sod them I have saved something like £800 by having it rebuilt so if you ever need a manual box repaired then I am sure they will sort it. 0208 8691 5953 |

Not sure if they recon Auto's but there are plenty of places in London that do Auto gearboxes. Manual gearboxes are not used in London hence it was hard to find someone who knew the manual box. |
