Had this warning light come on at the weekend, I do most of my own servicing and only changed the filter 12,000 miles ago. Saturday morning took the filter out, a little dusty but not bad at all. Cleaned it with an airline and checked there were no blockages in any of the pipe work. Put it back together, warning light still on! Took the filter out and put back together, still on! Light went out when I disconnected the air flow meter, priced 1 up, £150 for a genuine Bosch item. Took it to my local garage to check on diagnostics, fault code showed “Air filter dirty” turned light off, came straight back on! Fortunately the mechanic is pretty good, he went in to service mode on the machine and found the code there, when I do the the service I reset the service light on the dashboard manually using the odometer and clock buttons, he just reset it through the ECU and it’s off. ( cost me a tin of biscuits though) :D
