Taxi Driver Online :: View topic - NEW E7 AND NEW CLUTCH (HELP NEEDED)

She has written to both peugot and cab direct but is getting no joy! Where does she stand on this and is there anyone that can help?????
I would expect a clutch to last a lot longer than the 5000 miles she has doNE !

She has been driving for years and done thousands of miles in various taxis without clutch problems!
I know some people burn out clutches by resting foot on pedal but she doesn't!
I think to blame driver error is a disgrace on a new motor!
After fitting new clutch,she broke down a few days later due to garage negligence in fitting clutch! This was under warranty but kept her off road for a few days!
Can she t least claim lost earnings?

The clutch unfortunately is not covered under the warranty, even if you go to a small claims court how is she going to prove that the clutch was faulty.

The fact that a main dealer said it was faulty after 5,000 is a good start.

A fellow driver has a E7 which the clutch burnt out at 5,000 miles! She put E7 into Peugot dealer who fitted new clutch and gave her a bill for £1300 !!! They say the fault lies with driver error and is not covered under warranty1 She paid the bill in order to get E7 back as if she didnt pay bill they would not release E7! It has since been in garage again due to fault with them fitting clutch! No charge this time! She has written to both peugot and cab direct but is getting no joy! Where does she stand on this and is there anyone that can help????? I would expect a clutch to last a lot longer than the 5000 miles she has doNE !

The clutch unfortunately is not covered under the warranty, even if you go to a small claims court how is she going to prove that the clutch was faulty. The proof is now gone and both sides will claim that it is the others fault, and without proof they are more than likely to come down on the side of "Cabs Direct,"is it possible that it is the lady herself who has caused the problem? Having said that, it is one hell of an expensive clutch, was there more to it than what you have said.

Quote: I think to blame driver error is a disgrace on a new motor As I am sure you are aware, a clutch could be burned out in a couple of minutes - so 5000 miles is neither here nor there but I do see where you are coming from. However if there is a fault then perhaps it will surface again, if that happened then I would be onto an engineer for a report and then take on "Cabs Direct." Re loss of earnings - at the moment that is between the lady and the garage, and no doubt they will not just roll over - so in that case as has already been suggested, it means the small claims court and as they have already taken it back in and repaired it then I would feel that you have good chance. But! that is only my opinion.

i had a clutch plate warp at only 15,000 miles in a lwb relay, citroen replaced it FOC under warranty and stripped the gearbox to check the shafts the van was a nightmare...
