If you are in Scotland, as Mr Gusmac has just posted, then this has been one big wind up on your part.

I presume totally different legislation to LG (MP) Act 1976.

But I would still like to know how it works though.

We only have PH driver and vehicle licenses, therefore no PH operators' licenses like you do.

However, the real confusion is caused by the fact that the vehicle licence up here is commonly referred to as the operator's licence, which is of course an entirely different beast to your PH operator's licence.

Same for taxis here - if someone refers to a taxi operator's licence then they mean the vehicle licence.

However, as per the article Boggins posted earlier, the Scottish Government is currently taking steps to introduce a third-tier licence (which I suspect will also include taxis), but at the speed they've been going it'll probably take another ten years at least.

So we could well end up with six different licenses as compared to the five south of the border.

fae fife i like the bit about (One of the big changes the legislation will bring will be the requirement to keep a record of every booking taken, driver attending and the fare paid)dundee had just lost 400 plus drivers due to the tax form ,all the other invisable drivers are now at risk as the offices wont risk their licenses to cover them, davy young reported hired plates at a council meeting, he also reported damaged cabs, he will soon be faced with an opertunity to report a office regarding its fitness to operate a license due to the many many dodgy drivers that are currently going unchecked ,imagine handys/teles/505050/tay taxis all losing or even having their licences suspended, very unlikely some may say, but if i said to you 6 years ago a private hire company would open take all the council contracts, fold ,keep the plates for a year/ fold/ plus keep the council contracts and get away with sitting right outside the buisiest nightclub in dundee picking up in front of hacks all would have laughed ,the offices are going to have to be on their toes over this or we will all be paying davy his £90 and the office owners will be in early retirement
