TFL ignored our email, as did the LTDA, No reply from Ed Thompson.

http://surveillancevideos.blogspot.com/ ... t-has.html

When TFL said they had marked out a space in front of the Taxi rank at Kings Cross Bridge, for PHV drivers to wait for "booked jobs" from the station,we feared that going on their passed record, the mini cabs would abuse this privilege and use this space as a rank. We also had an idea that the rank itself would become a handy extension to the PHV space's, now that it wasn't used very regulally, owing to the fact, the Thames link station had shut.
Our fears have now been realised as this weekend the Mini Cabs were using the Taxi rank as if they were in fact Licensed Taxi's. Touts have been observed inside the station looking for "roaders" which they walk over to the unlawfully ranked, Mini cabs. The touts, mainly Junkies are rewarded by the drivers.
Our undercover man was assaulted trying to film the goings on and his camera was smashed. We will be suspending this type of operation until we acquire our new button hole camera.
Why have the LTDA not taken up this issue?
Why did John Thomas not reply to our letter?
Why is this rank different from Richmond?

These scum really are the enemy within

Thank god some cab drivers give a xxxx still about our "once" proud trade & tradition :?

Good old John Thompson of the good old LTDA was probaly tooooooooooo busy reminising about his part in the that dodgy 70's film about the knowledge which he has been writing about in his weekly article in TAXI for the last 2 weeks =D>

Yeah really interesting Mr Thompson, now what about doing what your 8,000 members really want you to do....like try to save their livelihood

Oh sorry, you got another holiday (only for LTDA members) to deal with?

Westminster council are continuing efforts to clean up the west end, this time targeting street charity workers, or chuggers.
New restrictions aim to protect shoppers and tourists in the west end and clear the streets of hoards of fundraisers.
And yet every night on the streets of Westminster, outside every nightclub bar and restaurant there are hoards of Illegally parked, Illegally ranked, touting licensed private hire vehicles. Accosting unsuspecting tourists and luring them into there vehicles that then become uninsured.
How come these vehicles are completely left alone by the Police, the Civil enforcement operatives (traffic Wardens), The TOCU squad and the PCO. They are even treaded as invisible by the TFL CCTV cameras.
The councillors of Westminster's West End ward should hang their heads in Shame. The Licensed Taxi Trade are disgusted with them. Do they, like Peter Hendy, not go out on the street after 10 oc at night?

Because they think your mad as do the rest of us? :?

I've said a million times before, your not a member of the LTDA Mr Andersonshelter/LondonJim so your not entitled to any service, full stop.

That's quite convenient though is'nt it? After I set you a challenge, you claim to have already tried it and had a camera broken? I thought you were a big tough guy who used to box?

Oh dear. :D

'Our' 'we' 'us' ? :^o

You mean you.

Let me try one more time, I'll type slowly so your ageing eyes have some time to take it in.

The Minicab's have NO designated space, it's an area in which they, or anyone driving a car can stop to let passengers off.

How can they be inside a closed station touting?

If cars are parked on a disused taxi rank (which it is) what makes that any different to any other rank in London where people stop illegally, and why is this obsolete rank suddenly so important to you?

Nothing to do with the fact I exposed your 'internet news release' as being a pack of lies now would it? :D

Well for a starters, i DO belong to a driver's union..not the one of your choice but apart from not being able to get some "FAB" deals on weekend breaks it does me fine, i also particapate on ALL trade demo's, drive-ins hotel boycots etc.

I work unsociable hours and try when possible to trap work outside these "bent" venues with their ranked up minicabs and "clip-board" jonnies to try and get some of our "lost" work back into "our" cabs.

Unlike Mr Thompson i am not a union rep/official and i dont represent 8,000 members

Over to you Mr GBC? 8-[

There's no need to be so anxious Mr CSP, it was just a question.

I was asking what personal responsibility you were taking, which is sadly lacking nowadays in many drivers, it's always someone else’s fault or problem.

Over the years I've listened to a lot of 'out of trade' mouths on sticks shouting and whining from the sidelines, when in fact they've contributed S.F.A to anything and never will.

It's good to see you’re a member of a trade body, the LTDA (as you know) is a lot more than Holiday discounts. I've yet to come across a better legal protection offer than we have, plus the sickness scheme is quite invaluable in current times.
Having full time access to these facilities is also important, part time reps are just that, they don't have the time to do a thorough and professional job on any cases.

You pay your monies and take your choices.

LTDA ,invaluable sickness scheme .....another oxymoron.
Please ask them why they took subs from me for 6 years, and when I fell over and slipped a disc, they refused to pay out.
