A taxi driver has died after a crash on the A27 at Chichester.

Peter Ranft (25) from Funtington was driving a silver Ford Tourneo taxi when it crashed with a green Skoda Octavia on the A27 at the Oving traffic lights last Tuesday (September 2) at 11.55pm.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital but has now died as a result of his injuries.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision.

There is an A & E in Chichester, but the poor lads head injuries were so severe that he was taken to the neurological unit in Southampton.

Controversially, the A&E at Chichester is being axed soon, then Portsmouth (15+ miles away) or Worthing (20+) will be the only options.
