you say that your village had a taxi rank, if you asked about your village perhaps someone just might have an old photo of it. Even ask some of the elderly people for letters stating where it was. I know my mum did this regaurding a crossing and it got reinstated. but this was through a residents meeting with the council. good luck

Or you could do what one of our guys did about 20 years ago. He borrowed a van on a Sunday morning, put on a brown work-coat, had prepared some templates out of plywood, bought some heavy duty yellow paint & painted a rank out in a side street, & no one was the wiser.

It lasted about 10 years & no one said a dicky-bird.

Now thats a good one.

Due to constant harassment from our traffic wardens
I did that 18 years ago on a busy Friday night, I marked out a six car bay and managed to get the words taxis only, painted twice before the old bill decided to grab the fully loaded brush off me and got covered in yellow emulsion. there was a crowed of about 150 cheering when this happened.
The next day the council came and started to burn it off they had been told it was gloss so I told them they only needed a bucket of water.
I was given a £80 cleaning bill for my effort but the best thing was 3 months later the council came and put the first rank in the borders exactly where I had put it even line for line.
Oh the charge was painting the queens highway :?:

Are you sure? I wonder if the charge sheet read " Queen painting the highway"
