I've never seen so many Doblos in my life.

I applaud the lads for at least getting up for a fight, but I'm still not convinced there is anything more the council can do other than seek clarification of the law and maybe more enforcement.

And HTF did an area such as Newcastle get a Liberal council?

Liberal, yeah I know ! Show's how much labour are hated around here.

I'm opening up a book on Labour winning the next election.... - 33/1....any takers?

We don't know when the next meeting is but hopefully the protest will have even more effect.

JD ................ I'm not suggesting there is a simple solution .................. I'm not even suggesting there is a solution at all ................... what I am suggesting that effort should be made to reduce the amount of illegal activity and Newcastle just seem to be blaming other authorities instead of seeking or undertaking at least some measures that may reduce it.

But you don't want to see anything being done about the problem you just want to see a single tier of licensing .................. and you will climb onto any bandwagon you think will deliver any credibility to your argument.

The fact is that I have seen Berwick, Derwentside and Castle Morpeth HC continuously returning to the same places in the city centre every weekend .................... with none of them having any insignia from a PH operation nor would I suggest a radio or a pre-booking from one.

The problem of flimping is something that the HC trade has got to accept .................. but when the levels reach that of Newcastle and people are licensing vehicles and themselves specifically to break the law something has to be done ........................ and well done to all of those who try and do something to stop it.

Well at least we have some movement on this particular section because quite frankly it was getting boring watching people complaining about something they could have remedied themselves. There was nothing stopping any licensing authority in the country from doing a Wrexham, perhaps if they had then we wouldn't be where we are at today.

I think you may have your % mixed up.

90% of Councils in the UK do a good job in keeping the illegal plying for hire to a minimum.

Chris I'm sory to say that in my opinion not one cab driver subscribing to this website or indeed in the United kingdom will agree with your opinion that 90% of councils do a good job in keeping illegal plying for hire to a minimum.

Quote:
ie (in my view) 10% of Councils (which include Newcastle) need a kick up the arse.

Any chance you could tell us which ten percent of councils you believe are not doing a good job in order that we can eliminate the 90% of councils that you suggest are doing a good job?

And did the verdict of this judicial review have any impact on the illegal plying hire in Newcastle last night or was it just the same as usual? What impact if any do you think this neutral opinion will have on illegal plying for hire in Newcastle.

Regards

JD
