I cannot believe that a owner as no right to drive is cab for servising or MOT.

And providing that he is not using the vehicle as a Hackney to pick up passengers why does the council want to prosecute the owner for driving his/her cab.

There as to be some way to stop these needeass prosecutions, i cannot believe that these cases or not winable.

some one a bit ago sent a case that had been won, but i have lost it.

you can obtain my transalation book at the cost of £12.50 if you are having difficulty reading this posting thank you.

The cases are not winnable on a point of law because the law is explicit.

We had a gentlemen win a case which he really shouldn't have won but I think he will be the first to agree that he owes a great part of that success to the the help and information he obtained from this website.

Regards

I'm of the opinion that if you aren't licensed to drive a cab you shouldn't own one, let alone drive it.

It would be even better if you had to have an individual operators licence for every cab as well

What makes you think I don't already have an individual licence to operate a hackney carriage?

Yes, our mechanic has got a badge so he can take the cars to the Council for testing. You'll find all the mechanics at the Council will have badges when they are testing the meters on the measured mile.

But can it be reasonable that mechanic at the main dealerships have licenses, as cars have longer warranties we all use main dealerships more.

When our cars are tested over the measured mile we supply the driver.
The testing station for this is in another county.

There is no exemption that I have come across, but I very much doubt a prosecution would get pass the 'interest of justice' threshold.
