The basis of this appeal goes back some time, as said earlier Mr.Brown has a W reg, volkswagon which originally had 7 seats, when he was charging fare and a half he was told by the council this was illegal his defence to this was "private hire do it why can't hackneys" so as also said begore he took out 3 seats and now is anti council everything, he did lodge the appeal within the 21 days and then did nothing for almost 2 years, his beef is with the age limit, he thinks his shed is fit to go on for ever, he fell out with most people due to his refusal to take people short distances, and refused to accept any advice, now he is looking for funding, at this time 70% of the fleet has already accepted the colour and age limit and have already changed over, the district judge who heard the case will deliver a verdict on March 6th.

You seem to be a tad bitter.....not your usual self :?

No I am not bitter, just sad that he is the individual that he is and has seemingly divided the trade, people who have worked tirelessly for the trade over the years have been singled out for unjust treatment by the mindless few, who are now attempting to bully people into paying for his lawyer, the facts are 70% of the trade have now bought black cars, they would have had to change their vehicle anyway so black, blue, green or red, what is the difference.

I see your point, I sometimes dispair mysely.

Perhaps your should tell your colleagues that there is a stark choice, pay for a repaint and clean up their act, or face delimitation.

I understand the chap was well advised....and he used the services of a solicitor?

I wonder how successful he will be and wonder what the LA will then do...pyrrhic victories are a blight of the trade?

Out of interest if this bloke won against the council, would it have the same result if the Private Hire trade took them to court over age and colour restrictions being imposed on them?

Yes, if the council were acting unreasonably, then it doesn't matter whom they were acting against.

If you let the spectre of deregulation hang over your head then you will always be held a hostage to fortune. That is one of the reasons why the taxi trade is faacked.
