The named company called me last year to tell me how I could "save money" with them.

How much can you save with these sub contract firms?

Nigel, you can divert any land line to a mobile.
all you do is dial *21* the number you want to divert to then the #
listen to the talk back and hang up
to remove the divert #21#
it will cost you a min £0.05p a call, but if you divert your land line to another land line it costs nothing

You have to set this up with the phone company first don't you? Virgin were charging me £1.75 per month and the diverted calls were costing around £20 per month.
I now have a system in place where for a 1 off payment I now get 1000 mins a month FREE.

Some may charge for the set up but I managed it just by trying it out.
What company gives the 1000 mins a month deal and how much :?:

Phones loss costs taxi firm £10,000

A TAXI company is losing thousands of pounds a week following the collapse of one of its phone line suppliers.

Knights Private Hire has been without four phone lines and its internet connection supplied by Bury-based Global Telecoms And Technology since the company ceased trading on Tuesday, February 24.

Andrew Rowley, who runs the Chesterton-based taxi firm with business partner Zak Matthews, says casual business has dropped off dramatically because customers calling Knights' current numbers cannot get through.
It leaves the firm with just one phone line supplied by a different company which has its old number.

Mr Rowley says the firm is receiving 1,000 fewer calls per week and that could cost the company more than £10,000.

He said: "We had no warning that this was going to happen. I came into work last Tuesday with my business partner, and as usual we switched on our computers to check our emails.

"But before we could connect to the internet a message came up saying that BT Wholesale had cut off the supply to Global.

"Later in the morning we tried to contact Global, but couldn't get through. We thought only our broadband connection was affected, but then at 5.30pm on the same day, our phone lines stopped working as well."

It is understood Global closed down with the loss of 100 jobs last month, after main supplier Gamma Telecom took out a winding-up order.

Knights is among dozens of companies around the country to lose their Global phone and internet connections.

Mr Rowley said: "I don't see how we can get anything back from Global now.

"BT is coming out to install some new lines this week, but we will have been without our main phone lines for two-and-a-half weeks.

"As a taxi firm, our phone line is our lifeline. We changed our numbers last year, and all our advertising has the new numbers. Only those customers with the old number are getting through. I'm worried that lots of people will think we've gone out of business."

Knights' only working number at the moment is 01782 563888.

A BT spokesman said the company had been approached by many Global customers eager to get reconnected.

She said: "BT is doing everything possible to minimise the time it takes to restore service for Global Telecoms And Technology customers who wish to have their service provided by BT Business. The time taken to restore service will depend on an individual customer's requirements."

The Sentinel tried to contact Global Telecoms, but all its phone numbers diverted to a message asking customers to leave their contact details.
