of couse cc the man in the know, is always right.

You are incorrect....again.

The councillor admitted guilt himself ffs.

Cllr Hornby agreed to accept the caution

If you are saying he's innocent, why did he accept a caution?

To be fair I think Charles has answered this point on more than one occasion. I would guess that had this been dealt with in the court, there was a chance that the councillor would not get costs awarded to him. So rather than risk a big legal bill he chose to take a caution from the council knowing full well that it would cost him no money and was pretty much meaningless. It was after all a council caution and not a police caution. Lets face it, the guy does not even have a council operators license for the caution to be put on.

I think he probably took the ticket to avoid further probing, on what's been written about him having the right stuff to do trips above 15 miles it says he hasn't done wrong, but if that's the case why accept a caution.

Labour Party ‘missing cash’ inquiry

AN investigation into the finances of a Bolton Labour party is under way amid claims that thousands of pounds is missing from its election pot.

Labour’s regional North West party is carrying out an internal inquiry to uncover if cash has been taken from the Bolton South East Labour Constituency Party’s fighting fund — and if so, to find out where it has gone.

A Labour Party North West spokesman last night confirmed: “There is an internal investigation taking place into alleged financial irregularities at Bolton South East Constituency Labour Party.”

The Bolton News understands that party chiefs are going over the statements of three bank accounts stretching back more than five years.

The investigation was announced at last Monday’s constituency party annual general meeting, but since then officials have been staying tight-lipped.

In 2005, retiring Labour MP Dr Brian Iddon had a majority of 11,638 over Conservative rival Deborah Dunleavy.

The fear now is that if money has been taken from the election fighting fund, the party could be forced to dig deep to pay for an election campaign for his replacement, Yasmin Qureshi.

Police have not yet been informed but the suggestion from inside the Bolton South East Labour Party is that any evidence will be handed over to officers if the probe finds any wrongdoing.

Bolton South East Labour Party treasurer Cllr Sean Hornby, who represents Little Lever and Darcy Lever on Bolton Council, has confirmed the party was looking through accounts, but declined to comment further.

One party member, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s very messy and I don’t think anyone can be sure what is happening.”

This is the same guy who a pseudo taxi trade rep was going to prove innocent. The same rep claimed to have seen his licences and yet more than a year later has failed to produce them. It will be very difficult because at the time of the offences he didn't have any. The prosecution was cocked up by vosa and a certain Mr Button.

Not for much longer though because very soon VOSA will not issue any licences for vehicles with less than 9 passenger seats. Any licenses out there are likely to be revoked.

It has already started. Some operators have already had licenses refused because their vehicles are less than 9 passenger seats. The ones that already have a license are getting letters from VOSA and they will be given a "suitable period of grace" to arrange alternative licensing.

Now we need countless bone idle licensing units to get off their backsides and enforce it. Fat chance!

LACK OF NEWS UPDATE

Can anybody tell us the state of play in the investigation into the affairs of that hotbed of turmoil known as Bolton South East Labour Party? Controversial councillor Sean Hornby (who was deselected by Labour, stood as an “Independent”, and lost despite his mattress stunt) was last heard of “helping the police with their enquiries” about missing funds from his time as the treasurer of the constituency party. Has he been cleared of any wrongdoing? We’d like to know.
