Didnt Derby ram say his next service was only going to be £400 for his merc?

Aren't the London Mercs dealers doing an up to 100,000 free service offer?

You don't have to take it to the dealer for service do you?? Any VAT garage can stamp your book and the warranty remains intact. You don't have to use genuine parts either.

They are, but the free insurance ended last month.

I was told by the LTDA that any Merc dealer can do the warranty work.

Aparantly Mercedes have classified it as a 'class a' ( :? ) conversion, which means they will honour any warranty work the same as an unconverted Merc Vehicle.

Does that apply to the offerings by Jubilee/Cab Direct/Voyager too?

You see, the Merc has a rear luggage compartment & that means that when you pick up passengers with luggage, you will need to get out of the driver's seat to load the luggage at the back of the cab.

And because you London cabbies don't like getting out of the cab, that might be a problem.

Are you talking about 'our' customers at Euston that cost me now't to pick up?

I'll make an extra special effort BC.

To clarify, the 2nd service at 36000 miles includes a gearbox service/oil change which they told me was about £80 worth of oil alone. This is a one off service apparently. The first service at 18000 was around £180 I think.
You can use any garage but I think you do need to use genuine parts to ensure the warranty. The quandry I think is that if you don't use the Merc dealership for service they won't be inclined to help in an emergency. And at the end of the day it all comes off the tax bill anyway doesn't it?
I have had 4 London cabs and believe me,the Vito is an unbelievable tool and the drive is fantastic.
Kind Regards
Steve

Not quite. It is deducted from your income before tax. So effectively, you're getting 20% of it back.

You can use any garage that is VAT registered and it must as you say be genuine parts. Having said that, I believe that so long as the parts come to the same test standard as the so called genuine parts..........then you should be alright, but check that one out.

The only nightmares I have seen with alternative vehicles is the time off road whilst being repaired .... a friend of mine had to wait in month for a side door just recently...
