I think we'll all follow this one with interest.

Is the tide turning?...... :-| Shame it hasn't happened here then.... We have people here from Birmingham, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Somalia, Romania, Poland, London, Southampton......
It's now spot the driver from Winchester......

Maybe we should have "stan" added onto all the large city/towns names?

The London public may have a choice in inner London between licensed PH and licensed taxis, but in the outer areas they don't.

Really?

Here's me thinking we had 3800 licensed Suburban London Taxi drivers and radio fleets with around 7500 Taxis on them.

I'd say thats pretty good coverage.

The idea for the five-year policy came from Coun Nigel Dawkins (Con, Bournville) who said: “There is no evidence available from these states. Perhaps they should have five years of good behaviour in this country before we consider them.”

The committee agreed officers should investigate whether such a policy would meet with human rights legislation.

Isn't there a council somewhere in the country already doing something similar to this?

I thought I'd read it somewhere in the last couple of months, possibly on this Forum.

Our Nigel is a very inquisitive sort; asks all the awkward questions in committee, but the right ones. I've grown to admire his style over the last few years. He even stopped Tesco Express from having an liquour licence in Bournville (Quaker country).

And he's the prospective Conservative candidate at the next general election for Selly Oak constituency. A name to watch, me thinks.

I can't believe you posted that.

You may say the Black Cab coverage in the suburbs is pretty good, but why then do people not use them for radio work?

They do.

I don't believe they would exist otherwise!

If drivers were'nt getting any work, then they wouldn't go paying £160 a month to a circuit.

Yes, that was per month.
