Change of image for taxi drivers
CAB drivers in North East Lincolnshire have a new dress code fit for the catwalk.
The code, which came into force yesterday, has given scores of taxi drivers a whole new image – despite the fact the council has not received a single complaint about the way a driver has been dressed in the past five years.
As reported, drivers could find their careers halted if they do not comply with the dress code agreed last December.
Out goes T-shirts with logos – especially offensive ones – ripped jeans, flip flops, running vests, baseball caps, football shirts, running shorts, track suits and jogging bottoms.
From now on drivers must wear a long or short-sleeved shirt with a collar and no sportswear.
However, after a front page story in the Grimsby Telegraph, drivers have been given special dispensation to wear football strips during this summer's World Cup.
In the summer months, or at other times of extreme hot weather, tailored knee-length shorts, with shoes or smart trainers will be permitted.
