I dont know if we know enough about them to comment, or how long ago they were.

It appears from the comments of drivers locally that they are blaming an over supply of taxis and cherrypicking due to low earnings for the dispute with the lad who died.

What, you mean there wasn't a supply of casual labour to pay him, a hiked rental or an inflated artificial plate premium? Now fancy that, maybe he should have moved up to Edinburgh, instead of shooting everyone. That would drive anyone over the edge.

Was it Gary?......I dont think I actually stated that, I think I reported what was said by others and didnt comment any further.

But since your thick as pigsh*t I'll repost what I stated;

It appears from the comments of drivers locally that they are blaming an over supply of taxis and cherrypicking due to low earnings for the dispute with the lad who died.

No...I was right, I didnt actually suggest anything.....I merely wrote what was stated on BBC local news tonight.

Dont quite suit your argument.....so I suspect thats why the hostility is there in your post, keep yer heed down wee mon

Twenty pounds a shift, but lots of money for Guns and Ammo, now everything fits into place. Silly me.

It was stated on the news that he had been left a large collection of Gun's when his father died.... and as for ammunition...... it's really very cheap

Being repeated on the BBC today.

However if he was only earning that sort of money, the tax man wouldn't be due a bean.

A simmering row over crowded taxi ranks and falling revenues may have helped provoke Derrick Bird’s breakdown and subsequent massacre, according to some of his fellow taxi drivers.

Michael Pugh, one of the drivers, said there was a “gentlemen’s agreement” to wait in line for customers at the rank but four cabbies, including Mr Rewcastle, had reneged on the pact.

Mr Pugh, from Whitehaven, said: “There was just a lot of bad feeling down on the rank.

“We used to have the front car system in place and then there were four people going off the back of the taxi rank saying to customers 'Go down the back and I will pick you up’.’’

As a result of the agreement breaking down, and the deregulation of taxis at the start of 2008, Mr Pugh claimed the amount of money taxi drivers earned in Whitehaven had halved.

He thought this financial pressure contributed to Bird snapping.

A council spokesman confirmed that complaints had been made about taxi drivers stealing each other’s passengers.

is there any LAW that says a member of the public HAS to get in any particular (or front) vehicle on a rank?

when Mr and Mrs OAP+zimmer frame are forced to walk past 20 taxis to get in the front vehicle something is very wrong

No there is not at the moment its the punters prerogative, even though I would say 80% of ranks work 1st off the rank the other 20% like mine the punter gets who they want
I think it should be made law 1st off the rank every time but with a few exceptions, those being if a party of 5 or more require a larger vehicle and that vehicle is further down the rank they can go to that one or if they require a larger vehicle for a big load
Or if that area is not an all wav area and there is a wav required the punter can go strait to it if they wish to do so
