Personally I don't give a toss..... When it's pishing down with rain and freezing bloody cold (and the same old miserable punters go straight past me to a saloon) and there is nothing else available, suddenly they are able to get in!! I just make a politely sarcastic remark that such as "Oh I thought you can't/don't like getting in to these type of cabs" That usually embarrasses them enough not to bother me again as 9 times out of ten they are only going round the sodding corner for £2.60.....
The saloon boys are beginning to get well pished of when these punters drag themselves round the corner and I'm in prime position (whatever that means) ....
Nigh time us wav boys are so popular with groups of 5 and more and the lonely ashhole pisheads stagger up to a saloon thinking they are cheaper than wavs....
I keep telling the undesirables to get a saloon as they are cheaper and their doors don't lock up on the inside... hint hint.....

I think a few of you are missing a major point here and that is many of the people being interviewed by the press are speculating as to his motives and possibly interjecting a few of their own pet gripes after all the bloke is dead and can't answer for himself I suspect that the true reasons will never be known but that there are a lot of problems he was facing all of which might have contributed

I'd agree....its customers choice as to who they do business with.

It should not be that way, Allegedly a rank is designed so that you drive onto it work your way to the front and pick up and go
All cabs in there own area are the same price  allegedly and all drivers checked

That was for the benefit of the 2 PH in the quote

Aren't you the chap that advertises a 25% discount on fares which would encourage people to use you and not others?

is there any LAW that says a member of the public HAS to get in any particular (or front) vehicle on a rank?

No, but there should be by-laws in the area stopping drivers taking them without good reason.

Indeed, I very much doubt the queue jumping caused him to kill him twin brother and his lawyer.

They probably made off without paying.
