A TAXI driver who got caught short ended up being locked in a toilet at a car garage for half an hour.

The driver, a 40-year-old man working for an Accrington firm, had slipped unnoticed into the customer toilet inside the Kitchens Garage in Trafalgar Street, Burnley, around 8.30pm on Saturday.

But the door had wedged shut and staff only heard his banging and shouting after 30 minutes.

Workers called the fire service who arrived around 9pm and used breaking in tools to prise the door open.

A spokesman for Burnley Fire Station said: "The staff were unaware he had wandered in and nobody knew he was stuck in there until eventually they heard his banging. He had his mobile phone with him though. His firm must have been wanting to know why he had taken so long!"

Leave plenty of time for a tour around the building; it's something else is Holyrood.

Unfortunately they do not do tours when there is parliamentary business on, which is a disappointment. But i will make the most of the day and visit some local pubs before i get the train home :)Maybe some of the Edinburgh lads will join me for a pint and a chat and we could share ideas on how to make our job better.

of course if I suggested some type of homosexual type link between the two, this post would be deleted, and rightly so, because that wouldnt be true. One beats cab drivers, the other beats his wife.....allegedly.

To get back to the original subject, (unless I have missed something,) if the man had his mobile phone how was he stranded for half an hour,   and moreover, the garage must be the size of the Royal Albert Hall if the staff did not hear his "cries for help" : 8) 8) 8)

Maybe he left his phone in his car and lets face it the staff in fuelling stations aren't exactly the most alert

Can you remember them automatic toilets that hit ther streets in the 90's?? I had to use one of them after eating a bad curry. They used to cost 2p for about 15 miutes.

I dived in and dropped my trollys and sat down, half way through the automatic door opened and wouldn't close.

Here's me in full view of the public sat on the toilet.
