I think you may be getting played in much the same way you and jasbar think you play others.

I may, of course, be wrong. who would know?

I can assure you Dougie, is serious

Dougie, is so mad drivers are approaching me on the rank. Asking who he is, and to a man think he is completely nuts.

He's actually cringe worthy.

Almost every man and his dog believes that Taxi drivers are ar*eholes and Dougie only goes to enforce the stereotype.

Spare us the “awfully familiar” [edited by admin], you've picked the wrong bed fellow this time CC. This guy is seriously delusional. He's not kidding in anything he says or believes.

I can actually feel myself cringing when reading his posts. Dougie takes being a complete imbecile to a whole new level, even by Edinburgh Taxi Driver standards.

I'm not kidding CC. A lot of people are questioning Dougie's sanity, and rightly so. I don't know if he's totally harmless or right out there on the edge.

I can't believe you question the sanity of the guy, when your mate is obviously loopy.

Yes, I've questioned the sanity of your mate on numerous occasions.

Thanks for that Wayne, learnt a lot from your knowledge of the differing value's of the medallion system and recognise similar periods within our trade, single shifters and all that.

Another point i noticed was the 5% transfer tax, very interesting

Again thanks :)

Private Reggie protecting and enhancing the value of the product, VOTE RESTRICTION VOTE MEDALLION :D :D

That aint my knowledge its from a report into New York licensing........the point that did cause me interest was the politicians realisation that if they flooded the market it would have an adverse affect.

I can supply you with the report if you send me your email.

regards

CC

Jayne, you can't flood the market, because market forces kicks in and the market regulates itself.

In our restricted market conditions the market expresses itself through other means.

In New York 13000 taxis extrapolates to 40000 other hires.

In Glasgow the ration is 1:2.5. The restricted sector is held back. The unrestricted sector expans to meet demand.

Increases in demand, because of the mechanics required to get the restricted sector going - surveys etc. - are satisfied by the unbrestricted sector. This leads to the restricted sector losing control, as in Edinburgh where pricing is being set by the competition and the restricted sector is losing its customer base and its critical mass.

Now back to the Medallion system. Not only is it not going to happen here, legally it can't happen here.

Dougie is a fantasist numbskull. A humorous diversion. By egging him on, Jayne is just showing that he has no grip on reality.

You forget a few people, your memory ain't too good, is that the onset of alzheimer's?

One thing, I think I'm about 20 maybe 25 years younger than you, in real terms, you're nearly dead.

Now that thought fills me with warmth :D

Well, we all recognise your standards and quality now Jayne.

I guess I'm supposed to feel some remorse that I am getting older. That would make you feel superior, given that you feel comfortable being 20 or 25 years younger.

You really are a stupid man CC.

Today, as it happens I visited family graves. My older brother was 5 years old when he died. My father was 71, my grandma was 84. My old mother is 86. My wife's sister, who we were all close to, died when she was only 49. It wasn't a trifling matter, and certainly not something to use to score petty points because you've lost an argument.

CC, my experience is that you can die at any time. There is no prescription. You don't have to be old to die. You can die even though you're younger than me.

Now, I think you are a loathsome and despicable individual . So much so that you will only ever aspire to, for you, the lofty heights of being a scumbag.

But I wouldn't wish death on you. Not for your sake mind you. But for the sake of those who would love you in their ignorance of what you are really like, and would be deeply hurt by your passing.

You are not worthy. I think of them.

Knowledge of the area
First Aid supported by full third party insurance
Real Customer care
Advanced driving skills with passenger handling
Regular vehicle condition assessments between inspections
Communication skills and standards

Oh, and an IQ test to ensure that customers aren't faced with some of the dimwits like you toots, CC and Dougie who post inane drivel on these forums

And that's just for starters.

How much knowledge? Like the London knowledge where it takes up to 3/4 years to learn?

Whatever it takes to satisfy the standards required to control entry to the trade

Why first aid? Surely no sensible person would practise first aid on anybody unless they were fully qualified to do so

And that's the training requirement, backed by full iunsurance protection for the practitioner

I have to agree with the real customer care

I also think advanced driving is a good idea, especially for bad weather conditions, but, not sure what it is with passenger handling that's a little fuzzy for me

The recognition of passenger behaviour in a moving vehicle. And loading, stopping, starting, baggage handling etc. The same standards as PSV

Regular vehicle assessments are a vehicle condition and not a driver related one so that's out.

Not so. It's the driver who is responsible for the vehicle condition on shift - bodywork, tyres, advertising etc - anything the cab office can pull you up for.

What level of standards are you thinking about when it comes to communication skills?

How about being able to speak the English language for a start? To be able to comprehend instruction and speak coherently to customers?

How high would you like the IQ to be?

Substantially higher than currently. Certainly higher than yours Toots if the quality of your argument on here is anything to go by.

Do you not think that a taxi driver should at least understand the laws and regulations that they work under. Perhaps a SME training would be an advantage too seeing as that is what they are, and that is just for starters

Knowledge of Laws which should be mandatory.

Licensing
Road Traffic
Contract
Theft
Fraud
Assault
Police powers
Criminal Law &etc

And an understanding of council procedures and Court process.

And that's just for starters.

Of course, the standards applying to Taxi drivers should also apply to all PH drivers too.

Why should any member of the public travelling by private hire have to accept a lower standard?
