I don't think derestriction does work tbh and certainly not for the ph here. Prior to derestriction we never had any hackneys on our systems, they are unreliable and they let our customers down that we've spent years building up. Before you say something along the lines of well the operator should be doing something about it, they don't care either so long as they get their settle they don't give a hoot what goes on

Thats true, but saying that, if PH was so successful, why would so many illegally ply?

I think you're having a deluded moment, you know the kind, brought on by several guinesses, you are so wrong as to why hackneys do that. The problem with the hackney trade is they want everything for themselves, they believe they are the only people that should accomodate the public

Theres no place for ranks in the modern scheme of things, shopping centres are "out of town", city centres are losing shops, offices are rarely near any rank, they may be workable at kicking out time but they arent as useable as ringing for a cab, which will usually be a PH saloon unless a WAV is requested, and then it may not be a "London taxi"

The "iconic" cab/taxi/hack is a throwback, even half (or more) of the trade who have them (sometimes not by choice) slag em off, they look good in a picture with a routemaster bus, the houses of parliament and a good old british bobby, for the tourist photos

Cant really agree with you there(for a change !)Town centres should have intergrated transport,why do you want out of town shopping,what about airports and train stations ? The so called london cab is still the vehicle of choice for a lot of cab drivers.We can put anything on here and the vast majority still choose a "london style taxi"I think if you ask the public do they like these as a taxi they would say yes.There made for the job,for me personally driving at night in a saloon car is a no go.As i young boy i always dreamt of being a cab driver just like you,dream on !

Look I love PH, and I love hackney carriage, however I don't love the older side having a pop at the young pups.

PH are growing, particularly in restricted areas, because the existing HC trade are buffoons, and have taken their eyes of the ball.

Many customers no longer wish to wait in the rain for a vehicle to come along and deem to pick them up, times are changing, however many in your side of the trade are still firmly stuck in the past.

Which is a shame, but it's your shame not mine.

Your sadly wrong as people choose to stand at a taxi rank and get in a taxi,they have a choice dont they? Or dont you have ph offices and mobiles in your part of the world ? Theres a place for a hc and ph as shown here they work side by side on the circuits.Its the drivers choice which one they drive.Get of your high horse about hackneys, your another know it all who knows fu@k all
