Taxi driver held at knifepoint
A NESTON woman has been arrested on suspicion of taking part in a robbery in Ellesmere Port.
Police say between 3am and 3.30am on Friday, August 12, a taxi driver picked up a man and a woman in the town.
The passengers asked to be dropped off at the corner of Whitby Road and Princes Road, but then they subsequently threatened the driver with a knife and stole cash from him.
The victim got out of his car in a bid to escape harm and the male suspect drove off in the Peugeot 406 taxicab, which was later found abandoned on Victoria Road.
The taxi driver, a 59-year-old man from Ellesmere Port, was uninjured but "shaken" following the ordeal.
Detectives began examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation led to the arrest of a 24-year-old man from Tyneside, Merseyside and a 31-year-old woman from Neston on Monday, August 15.
They remain in police custody where they will be interviewed by detectives.
