There is now a "free" download of Cab Master's software available at http://www.cabmasterpayg.com (We just built the website for them).

I say "free" because after a 30 day trial you need to buy a one off licence for £75.00. Otherwise totally free to use for upto 10 cars on voice. If you want to go with PDA's (or for larger fleets) there are bolt on's that can be bought. Best thing though is that you can have a good look at the software before you even decide to commit to the £75!!

So it isn't actually free then, it is included in the package. Like the VAT free cars that still have VAT in the price.

In a nut shell yes, my phone bills where around £120 a month using call divert, now I only pay £56 all in

Does this mean you will be posting [edited by admin] 10 times faster?

I have been in touch with Bill at Datamaster as I remembered I had an old demo disc of there booking software and have to admit that he has been very helpful so will be looking at the system when I get my old laptop up and running etc.

What are other peoples opinions on this booking software?

Am mainly looking for a basic system that can do ringback and text back and one that does not give the bank manager a heart attack!

I can highly recommend Datamaster. Virtually all the information you need on one screen and so easy to use with more than enough features for any taxi firm. Problem is you won't see them at any exhibition as they don't need to push their product.

I would recommend visiting Datamasters state of the art premises in Warrington, It puts Autocabs to shame  If you are going down the route of data dispatch you are best putting your faith in Datamaster. They haven't let us down yet, and I've never seen a post on here criticising them. How many other Data dispatch firms can say that?

Don't know if you managed to sort anything yet as I can see from the dates in the post it was a while ago but with loads of choice Autocab seems to be the way to go and they are not as expensive as they used to be. I know they do basic radio systems which would be a good start and the upgrade to data is quick and easy when your ready. :D

Which will still make them about 5 times more expensive than DataMaster!

I am currently still trying to build up my cab company and need some info if anyone can help?

Put simply, when I took over firm it was all logged on paper so we have upgraded to logging jobs on spreadsheets on computer which works fine.

I have been looking into upgrading to booking dispatch software but due to the fact the the company currently has 5 drivers the cost of the systems are putting me off etc

I have had a leaflet from cabmaster about setting up a pay as you go system which has got me thinking that if I was able to start at the bottom and get a computer booking software without dataheads using voice dispatch and build up system from there which is the best to go for?

I have been told most cab companies are using autocab but have been told its very expensive and the same goes for cordic?

Anyone got any idea as to where I should start or should I stay as I am until I reach 20 drivers etc?

I really want to get callback as so many people think it is standard so would like a system that would be able to do this. I have thought about using a mobile but dont think this is any good as the receptionists might forget to call the customers!

Any thoughts on where to start for the cheapest and most relieble system to start?

I did the whole research in the market a year ago and I am glad for the provider I chose.

Mercury - Just Keep Away from it
Cab Management System - Stay clear from it, do not entertain the [edited by admin]
Digital Dispatch System - Great system but as its online based, there are major issues
Cab Master - Good system but people end up switching elswhere after 3-5 years as they cannot provide or move on with the times quickly as others
AutoCab - Great but only choose this if your fleet is over 150 cars and looking to grow more than 200 vehicles
Auriga/Trapeze - Expensive but I'd rather choose AutoCab as I would only buy this system if I had over 150 vehicles

Cordic is who I've chosen, yes its expensive, yes its advance and expensive again but you do get what you pay for.. there are approximately 50 people in Cordic HQ they are able to develop something powerful and great which is never going to let you down!! now they are expensive because those 50 people cost money of course and a big building they need to pay out for... The more people professional people in a software company, you know they wont let you down.. Choose Cordic in my opinion.

Alternative to Cordic I would only recommend AutoCab (only if your looking to grow more than 150 cars)

In this "whole research" did you even know of Datamaster's existence? Just asking because I did the same and like wrexhamdriver our company was small and using paper and ink. The budget was, likewise, tight (and if anything is tighter now). The over-riding consideration wasn't cost, however. It was going for a system two dozen technophobes (drivers and dispatchers) could work with.

So we installed Datamaster and have never looked back (or elsewhere).

My advice to WD would be to read your post, and phone Bill.

Is Cordic the one that only does the address database update one a year?
I'm sure I was told they don't allow you to do your own but I may have got it wrong.

Hale are actively pushing their UK market at the moment. The system they use is pretty advanced by known standards. The despatch software manages and the cars itself (works out fastest responses time working out traffic hold ups etc) and their system will even do the accounts/driver payments for you by tapping a keyring on the main computer. Very clever kit......don't know the cost though!!

Might be worth looking at if replacing your current system, as the other abilities it has will replace most of your equipment and reduce running costs, but again, that depends on cost of the system as I said, I don't know - but looks very impressive!

My advice will always be. "AVOID MERCURY BY EXEL MANAGEMENT".

Wrex, consider approaching your local college (tech as we used to call em) or uni IT courses, you may get your own program written and tested cheaper than a commercial bit of software, or an app for a smart/android phone

as time goes on it gets easier (comparatively) to do things at a DIY level, I know a couple of guys who have written thier own tracking systems and also quote systems using google mapping

some systems are online as opposed to software based too
