Thank you Alan, as I have never been involved with a taxi site, I should have many new friends ahead of me.

Although that's not the impression I get from one or two of our other members.

Alex

oh you will meet many types, i liken it to an online version of your average taxi/ph office, you will get many varied types, characters, outspoken (sussexman :P ) hahaha. All knowledgable and the ones that will just plain do your head in!!!! the ones that cant take no for an answer, and the ones that cant be wrong! good luck with it all, me well ive seen the light and just design the things, dont do moderating no more!

hello dusty old chum how are you! :)

and watch that susexman some people say he's really controversial but he's a likeable character :)

Fine thanks Alan :D

Hope your webhosting is going well, if you'd been a day or two earlier you might have had an extra customer!!

BTW, would you care to name a few names for various types and charachters :?:

Then again, maybe that's a bad idea!

Dusty :D

i never give up eh!

whats up now geoff!

now even though you werent in my mind when i wrote the previous posts, ill put you down as one of the "characters" of the boards geoff, and ill leave it at that. Peeps will either have already made up their mind of what sort of character you are, or they soon will!

be that good or bad :D

the web hosting goin fine by the way dusty! the domain names has took off in a bigger way though, registering quite a few now, i think people are happy that i register the name in their name which a lot of hosting companies dont do (then they charge for moving it around). or transferring it. I personally like this phpbb forums but dont find it configurable enough (like yabb), i offer this phpbb for free on any hosting package i have with free setup, so if anyone else would like to have a bash. :D

one forum that might be good to set up is a new business forum, where peeps could get info on grants, with solicitors and accountants on and someone who is well up on planning regs and the like, this type of site could gain plenty of advertising from different bodies to make it worthwhile..... anyone interested give us a shout and we will chat about it

Alan

I'm not too sure about the technical side (I'll leave that to you!), but I preferred the look of the YaBB board, but this one came pre-installed with the hosting package, so the decision was made for us really.

The intention was just to have a basic message board though, and it certainly provides that.

by sheer coincidence I used to be our local planning chairman, I am a bit rusty at the mo but could catch up

yep I am interested at helping the trade, by the way Alan the post was supposed to be light hearted.

I llie this list the other one does not allow you to think, and you get abused, then the warnings come!

And very nice it looks to. A good rant looks so much better with a white background is so better to see the blood

BTW who is the "us" obviously one is you Dusty, who else?

Were you any good at moderating? I hear that one has to be very even handed, not an easy task when you are carrying a lot of preconcieved and prejudiced baggage.
