I am a little confused. For a private hire cab firm in London what can / cant you put on the outside of your car? Can we put the name of the company on the outside?

Nope, No and afraid not.

Contact the minicab trade organi.... oop's, sorry forgot they don't have one.

Contact the PCO for more information, if you've had a response by next year let us all know, that'll be a new record.

That's what I thought. But what about Addison Lee? They seem to have their name plastered all over the back of their vehicles

I think they have big check books, which perhaps makes the PCO think twice.

Their courier van fleet does, but obviously they're nothing to do with TFL.

All of their minicab fleet are now devoid of signange on the rear.

Lots of 'baby on board' stickers though.

............... oh, and 'corporate' ties

What about the colour of the car? - can you do whatever you like providing it does not have your name (and is of course tasteful).

Theres no rules on the colour scheme as far as i'm aware.

I would direct your enquiry to the PCO who should provide you with a definitive answer. :?

our PHs have plates on the back.
mini plates in the front window with drivers badges.
roof lights.
plate numbers on the passenger back doors.
firms phone numbers on the front doors.
in other words they look more like a taxi than we do.

To me thats just encouraging people to hail them in the street.
And as we all know some unscrupulous drivers may break the law if hailed.

If you book a private hire car, then the driver is directed to a specific place to pick up a specific person(s)

Why does an I.D plate and a simple door sign not suffice?

What use is huge side signs and massive roof signage??

With the name of our company being Arrow, we simply painted big gold arrows down the sides. They didnt like it, but eventually accepted we could have the operators details on the vehicle. But then, we are all Hackneys.

I guess the point is this - why cant you use your main assett - the car, to advertise your business? Accepting of course you can not pick up from the street. No other business is like this.
