Police officer fined more than £1,000 for jumping a taxi without paying in Croydon

A police officer has been fined more than £1,000 after she was found guilty of jumping a taxi without paying.

PC Nicola Elston, 28, a serving Metropolitan Police officer with Lambeth borough, was found guilty of making off without payment of a taxi fare in Croydon on June 27 last year.

She appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to one count of assault and one count of making off without payment.

She was found not guilty of assault.

She was fined £150 and ordered to pay £1,000 in costs.

PC Elston remains on restricted duties.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Now that the criminal proceedings have been completed we will be able to complete our misconduct process.”

Should have jailed her.

Just as crimes against police officers attract higher sentence's than those against Jo Public. Crimes committed by them should be treated more seriously.

Those that uphold the law should bloody well obey it.

How come she's still a Police officer now that she has a criminal record?

The police and Judiciary are quick enough on making examples out of Taxi drivers being as they are professionals..why should Police crimes not merit the same.
