They have listed the councils under Lancashire County Council control, which excludes Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwin as they are both unitary authorities. Nothing in the documents seems to request only data on Lancashire so very selective.

The latest Taxi and PHV national statistics should be out in about a month, so it will be interesting to see the latest Wolverhampton figures.

For the second time, ask them who the officer in charge is and what his pay grade is and how much he is on them at them about his pension. Somebody will be doing very very well.

Don't know if you saw my post in another thread about the online Wolverhampton licensing register. But it looks like it's, er, dynamic (the numbers certainly change from day to day) and assuming it's kept up to date then the current numbers are as follows (and even if it isn't bang up to date, the numbers are likely to be in the right ball park).

So currently it's:

Vehicles - 30,793

Drivers - 45,187

Operators - 430

So your *drivers* figure is particularly far out. But which is consistent with what I said a few weeks ago - almost 1.5 drivers per vehicle seems a very high ratio for PHVs, particularly where there's no vehicle cap.

(Which of course there can't be - unless it's Glasgow, because PH vehicle caps are allowed under the Scottish legislation. But I wonder if Glasgow is the only council in the UK that restricts PHV numbers - certainly haven't heard of any others, and pretty sure Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee don't cap them. And not in Fife. So if any other Scottish councils do cap PHVs, it's certainly not one of the bigger cities )
