I have just found out that West Lothian council have dropped the required pass rate on our topographical test because our coloured cousins complained the test was too hard. Pass rate used to be 90% and 2 out of 3 a to b routes. Now it is 60% with no routes.
I feel this makes it too easy and will reduce the competency of new drivers in my local area.
Don't get me wrong, I am not a racist, I just feel the reduction is not justified.

Any one else got an opinion on this?

Policitical correctness gone mad, and no-doubt a licensing officer or two has gained a few brownie points from those who don't give a stuff.

There seems to be a discrepancy here? The council is definitely of the opinion that the percentage pass rate has been lowered but the cab office say it hasn't and it still stands at 92%.

Maybe Geraldine McCann the head of licensing can set the matter straight?

The way the system works as I understand it, is that the Cab office informs the licensing department who has passed and the licensing department then issue the license.

If you want to voice your opinion that the taxi test should not be watered down then you can email Geraldine at the following email address.

geraldine.mccann@westlothian.gov.uk

Regards

JD

Same old same old, because they can't do the job, we lower the standards. It is happening in every industry and I am sick of it.
This country is a joke!!

Many thanks JD. I'll fire off an email over the weekend.

same round my way they dropped the driving test and made the knowledge test easier not that it was difficult in the first place to suit our asian friends based in a certain nearby city after being threatened with legal action for racism or so the rumour goes

I heard the same story and asked the council.
Guess what.
It's not 60%.
It's 80%.
And it was the Edinburgh Cab office that changed the pass rate not West Lothian Council, they did not even know it had been changed.
And what makes you think it was because of our Asian friends.
Why don't you contact the Cab office and get the correct reasons instead of starting rumours.
