CHRISTIANS TAKE ON THE CABBIES

TAXI drivers are set to face new competition - from a Christian group.

Christian leaders are so concerned about the safety of Glasgow's revellers they are launching their own cab firm.

And they plan to make the lift home service free.

The principal of the city's International Christian College claims he got the idea after a meeting with Mother Theresa just before her death.

Reverend Tony Sargent says young drinkers are at risk from muggers, sex attackers and hypothermia.

He thinks the college, who run a Saturday "Buddies Bus" from Sauchiehall Street to get vulnerable folk home, could be their salvation.

Now, they hope to set up a small fleet of cars with their student volunteers as cabbies.

Rev Sargent said: "If you go down to Sauchiehall Street on a Sunday morning, it's alive with young people.

"Many are enjoying themselves but there are some worse for wear. They have lost their senses and can find themselves in quite a vulnerable state.

"So we hope to increase the breadth of the assistance we can give."

Yes but will they be so christian orientated once they have had a few drunks throw up in their car or a fight between two fellas. Ah sorry i forgot the good lord will save them of course :shock: :shock:

The thing is Darren even if they don't charge they are breaking the law. [-X

Not quite sure what 'reward' they will get, but there doing it for some sort of advantage. :wink:

in a city where gangsters are coining it in from taxis/private hire what could possibly go wrong with somebody offering free taxis?
