Letter Received from Managing Solicitor to all licenced drivers ;

Dear Licence Holder

Nation Fraud Initiative 2006/07

I am writing to let you know that Renfrewshire Council is participating in this exercise to ensure that public money is being properly spent.

The Council is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers. We may share information provided to use with other bodies responsible for administrating or auditing public funds, in order to detect fraud and error.

Our appointed auditors are Audit Scotland and they currently require us to participate in the National Fraud Initiative (NF)). As part of this initiative we are providing details of holders of taxi drivers and private hire driver car licences to Audit Scotland, so that they can compare these with information provided by other public bodies. The main match in this case would be to the record of those claiming benefit held by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

If you have any queries on this exercise, please contact the Licensing Section on 0141 840 3262

I'm surprised it's taken so long for the Scottish authorities to get this off the ground.

My manor has been doing it for years, and it's a great way to get rid of scum drivers. :wink:

If thats a disclaimer you need to recheck the wording.

You need to add a 'not' in between the 'do' and 'necessarily' .

Yes, it wouldn't do for the DSS to poke their noses into the affairs of dole cheats :lol:

Anyway, isn't the information in question on the council's publicly available licensing register?

I was thinking that, but maybe the 1847 act only allows notes to be taken, whereas now the report can be sent in full.

Or something like that. :?
