Most authorities now work hand in glove with the majority of Government agencies. Holding a Taxi or Private hire license does nothing more than inform them you hold a license. It is not a crime to hold a license but it is a crime to defraud a benefit agency or evade income tax.

I was informed on one occasion several years ago by a female benefits agency officer who's job it was to weed out fraudulent claims. That a great many claimants from a certain community here in Manchester were adept at claiming they work only 16 hours a week while driving a Taxi.

Needles to say, it is very difficult to prove a Taxi driver works over 16 hours a week, so perhaps this element is worth bearing in mind?

Regards

JD

It's a great idea, when we have checks carried out (vehicle and DWP checks) it's usually a good day to work because of the ammount of drivers who suddenly dissapear off the systems to do some gardening!
