If a brand new custom built Taxi incurs a problem with a sliding door, the maufacturer under warranty fixes it, but do not provide a replacement Taxi for the week its in the garage, the supplier claim no responsibilty as they didn't fit the doors!! is this the norm????

I think it's the norm for most warranty work in the same way if your engine falls out the main dealer wont give you a licensed vehicle.

But you could of course charge them for loss of earnings.

I asked the question for somebody else, my personal experience has been the opposite, faults under warranty have meant Taxi Hire vehicle for the duration of fault, on 2 seperate occassions, 1 being clutch and the other engine problems, although it didn't fall off, it had to be rebuilt!!! I suppose the difference in my case is that I purchased my vehicle and the dealer accepted it was to be a Taxi.

I'm interested to read that the main dealers in your manor have spare licensed vehicles waiting there on the off chance that a warranty vehicle is off the road. :?

I have a Kia Carens, on the 2 occasions I mentioned before, the Kia assistance contact a company called Chief rentals and organise a vehicle to be dispatched to my LA to be licensed as a replacement vehicle while mine is off the road, everything is done, local MOT, Tariff for my area, plates, everything,no expense, delivered to my frontdoor!!!!
Altough I have been unlucky with my engine problem, I will be thinking of replacing my vehicle with a new Carens 7 seater for piece of mind with the warranty.

But surely they will take longer to do than most warranty work takes. :?

1stly, I made a mistake on who supply the vehicle, its not chief it 's Dunning Wood, chief supply on insurance work.
The speed of suppling a vehicle from these companies is fantastic, they don't waste time next day delivery is the norm!!!

I also have the KIA Caren's, but so far have not had a single problem, in 86,000 miles diesel LE 40 mpg average, still under warranty 3 years unlimited till 2008, serviced every 10k, only on my third set of tyres
where did you get your from pussycat and how old was it when you got it.
The secret is do not register it as a taxi on the log book, keep it PLG then you get the full warranty

Ive had experience with Chief, their the bees knees!
I had a no-fault bump on a Thursday morning, they had a vehicle sent up overnight (from darn sarf) plated, the works and was back on the road Friday afternoon.
The Operator i work for now has new vehicles ready to go, covering the north west area, he can get you a plated car in any LA ready to go in 24 hrs!

KIA are spot on with their warranty work, my late father had a KIA Sportage the 4 wheel drive version, he had a few problems with it but KIA sorted them out no questions asked all on the warranty. One time his 3 year warranty had run out and a problem occured with the igniton, he took it to them to be fixed, when they phoned him he went to pick it up willing to pay for the work that had been done, they said to him your warranty is only out by a week we'll sort it for you.

All the lads who have KIA's round our way swear by them.
