Heres something I found amusing from 2005, which says it all about politicians.
............................................

Call this democracy?

If Mr Blair is ever troubled by the fact that he governs with the support of less than 25 per cent of the electorate, he might take cheer from the example set by Camelford town council in north Cornwall. Last month it staged a referendum on whether motorists should be charged for using the town's main car park, until now paid for by a modest percentage of local rates.

No fewer than 88% of the votes were in favour of retaining the present system, and 75% specifically against introducing pay-and-display. The town councillors, however, have voted by seven to one to reject the people's verdict and to impose a charging scheme. They explained that there had been only a 31% turnout (about the same as that which elected them) and that all those who stayed at home "might well have voted for pay-and-display".

Since charging was introduced, traders have reported a significant drop in takings, as people take advantage of free parking in nearby towns. Angry residents now hope, at the next election, to replace their councillors with some who better grasp the meaning of the word "democracy".

Same in london, 80% of bussines's and 75% of resident's rejected the expansion of the congestion charge and yet Ken went ahead with it anyway, bloody disgrace!. What p*ssed me off more than anything was the fact that he spent fortunes on consulting the public and took no notice anyway.

OK GMB iv'e took the bait.
If it was part of his manifesto, why have a consultation on it?, if he was going to do it anyway, he has just wasted more money.

We do not have democracy in this country, we are only [b"]TOLD"[/b] that we have it.

Example of "democracy U.K" We need your vote, we have kissed the babies, vote for us.

M.P gets in "thank you for voting us in" We will consult with you, and we will smile and listen to your views. When you have left the room we will throw your views in the bin - because you elected us to govern - "AND WE ARE GOING TO GOVERN" now P**s off we do not need you anymore! "WE will tell you how you are going to live and how it is going to be".

And the really sad part is that they do.
