You seem to fail to understand that the Council has been maoeuvred. We are exactly where we expected to be. Nothing has changed.

I have to laugh at Cabbers telling us that he's had the worst first quarter ever and that this is what de-restriction would be like. Anyone who sits on a rank bumping his chops is bound to have a poor quarter.

Personally, I've had the best first quarter I can remember.

But that has nothing to do with de-restriction.

De-restriction will come because it is the just thing to do. It is what free market economics, which the control freak politicians are supposed to believe in, it's what ever taxi driver has a right to, it is what will destroy the cartels operating restricted taxi trades, it's what will free the customer from excessive cost, it's what will bring respect back to the trade.

De-restriction is not just about demand matching supply, rather than demand being managed downwards to keep supply down, and rentals and plate values up.

And, don't kid yourself that this council doesn't realise this. Even now they are working towards coming up with a surprise demand figure to match the 100 on the waiting list. They are desperate to get rid of this IPL so that they can bring restricted control back.

Remember this TC, they can never issue from the list in isolation. Despite hiking the fee to a "deterrent" £1205, any attempt to issue from the list in isolation will be met with applications, and other planned measures, from anyone who wants to operate their own taxi. It will open the floodgates.

Don't believe this? Then take on board the liar Wigglesworth who, while seeking to deny my licence, was telling all and sundry that the interim survey was only accurate for the stances covered and there may be demand elsewhere. If the information wasn't accurate, how could it be used to deny our licences. That elsewhere is the interested parties list.

The skulduggery of Inch is at work here.

But, the most disappointing aspect of all this, is that this how you, and the cretins Gladstone and Cablag, actually believe a Council should operate.

It's breathtaking. We're in the midst of the worst form of politicking, a democratic deficit, a complete negation of the rules of Law and democratic rights, and you think this is good.

And, all at the behest of a man of God. Well, let me say that if the April 18th meeting is how Christ's disciples operate, then He must indeed be dead.

Personally I would hope that their actions have been noted and that He will intervene and put these matters right. We will see.

Remember TC, these people are totally unscrupulous and you would hand your trade to them. Any claim to honour, morality, justice, truth, fair play is only for public consumption.

Believe this, they will dump on the taxi trade in a heartbeat when it suits their schemes.

If they haven't done so yet, it's only because there is nothing in it for them.

The same goes for all the other so called "representatives" - Colquhoun, Nielson, Greenhalgh etc. They do what they do because there is advantage for them, only them.

But just for the record it was Mr Coulhoun who mouthed off blaming JT for the council initiating more surveys with their intent to look at other types of demand. I responded by telling Mr. Coulhoun that if he had something to say he would get his chance before the council. I invited him to stand before us and state his case but needless to say his bottle went. The same goes for the rest of the so called trade representatives.

BTW, and this is just for those on fasties. There are a lot more drivers supporting us than ever before. And yes, they too can see the benefit of having their own vehicle.

Having listened to a trade representative who attended the Taylor/Thomson show he told me how he was embarassed for the the trade and even for the two numpties desperatly trying to get free plates for themselves and Feck the rest of us.

I wonder whether they really believe this!!!

£50k plates being sold
What the numpties failed to understand (and probably still fail to understand) is the council are well aware that taxi licences have a value outside of council control - and they don't care. They told the numpties (who claimed plates were being sold for £50k) that a taxi licence is no different from any other licence they issue. A pub, street trader, show or club licence can and are issued to companies all the time, if the directors of any of those companies decide to sell their company they can and I suppose the people buying the company will pay whatever they think is a fair price for that business. The council, as the council solicitor present stated "really does not have an interest in these transactions".

The council don't care? So why are they tripping over themselves to tell us that plates have "no intrinsic value"?

Deregulation
The numpties argued that deregulation was the only way to redress the balance between taxis and phc. They also argued that the only way they could lower the average driver rentals was to create more single shifted taxis, this could be acheived by deregulating. They are too thick to realise that the very drivers who become owners will not be able to charge fair/realistic rentals either. Therefore deregulation will only help drivers who want to stay drivers.

Well ain't that the truth!!! I have no difficulty with this. Any one else see any problem with this? :lol:

The two numpties having spent over an hour arguing for free plates and deregulation and repeating themselves continually were told that the council had just adopted a report which showed ther was no significant unmet demand and so they simply can't issue licences based on these facts. Therefore you applications are rejected. Their pleadings were followed with a "thank you, that's exactly the result we were after" comment from Taylor. Funny, if you always really wanted nothing more than a knockback why get so upset. I'll tell you why - cause he aint got the money or the heart for a further fight with the council. He's fecked - and he know's it. There was a third little preck with them who apparently when asked if he had anything to add said "you show try it out there - it's no easy ye ken. This is a breech o ma human rights this is".
Is the council worried by these measured and planned retorts? ..................... NAW!

Who said anything about a knockback. All I stated was that I expected the result we got. This was reported in the news when I made the application. I never expected anything better from Edinburgh's corrupt council. How else cpuld you explain listening to witless councillors parading the strategy of Jim Inch when they neither understand it, nor really agree with it.

The Christian disgrace that is the witless Wiggie actually bent over backwards to get the committee to say that while the Jacobs interim survey was accurate for the stances shown, there may be demand elsewhere which was unmet? H ethen tried to get the committee to agree to pluck a number out of thin air and pass the recommendation onto the council executive. Can you believe this? No, neither did the rest of the councillors who didn't understand Inch's game, project so poorly by the appalling Wiggie.

I almost had an apoplexy at this point because logic told me that they were about to grant the licences. It was a big relief when they refused them after all.

But then, having told us there may be demand elsewhere, the report didn't tell them whether there was, they then denied our licences on the basis that the report told us that there was no unmet demand. Quality or what?
