I don't see why you would want to be cheaper...

To get more work?

You'd need more though, wouldn't you, just because you are cheaper.

I suppose some folks think if they are sitting around scratching their bums, then they aren't earning a bean.

As case of 100% of nothing is nothing.

Could you have the correct tariff on the meter, and advertise cheaper fares, or have your own tariff sheet in the cab, along with the council one.

This company does not always charge the metered rate or less. There are times, particulaly at night when they charge MORE than the fare would have been on the meter.

Am I right in thinking that if a hackney is picking up at the rank or being hailed in the street and the fare is to another part of the same licensing area, they must use the meter?
Can the LA withdraw the plates of a vehicle whose meter has not been changed to a new tariff?

The best case on meters is Curzon.

Read the Terms and Conditions of your Badge! If you pick up out of area without being pre-booked; ie PH then you probably have no insurance which is an instant 3 month driving ban! And in any case of you plying fr hire out of area that's illeagal as well.

People like you get the law abiding Cabbies amongst us a bad rep!

The insurance issue is a bit grey as all customers are covered no matter what via the Motor Insurers' Bureau.

The problem with out of town hirings is who keeps an eye on the bad guys? Most LOs struggle to keep an eye on their own. :?

Yes but as per usual that can be challenged in court.
