It has not been confirmed as yet, but in Sefton we seem to have more money than we know what to do with, licensing fees that is , so it is expected that at the next liaison meeting it will be announced that licensing fees will be reduced.....

Just de-limit, save a bob or two, and then license fees will be even cheaper.

The removal of number controls is for councils and licensing officers that have no idea of how to provide a good Taxi Service , and by doing so prove how useless they are, and is often supported by squatters that drive private hire .

How did they manage to accumulate such a large surplus in the first place?

Good question, maybe they should have followed Berwicks policy of only charging what it costs to implement licensing. I suppose that brings us to the question of how many more Seftons there are throughout the UK?

I think if you were to look closely you would find that every council generates money from licensing, but as our licensing fees are ring-fenced and the Hackney and private hire department stands on its own feet excess money can not be siphoned off to be used in other sections of licensing. And I think JD that Berwicks policy is to use licences that they know will not operate in their own district as a cash cow nothing else.

But aren't the administration costs the same for every license application no matter where they choose to work?

So you're saying that they're welcoming the work rather than just doing it because in law they have to?

I will ask you a question, how does a licensing officer get more money for doing his job,
