The correct way would be to suspend the plate when she's using it, but then you'd need a normal MOT as well.
good luck

What do you mean a normal MOT as well, surely all vehicles need a normal MOT once they are 3 years old. We have to produce ours with the registration document and insurance certificate to get our plates.

No they dont, your PH vehicle has a complience cert not an MOT. Some may have normal MOT's but if its a licensed vehicle then you need a badge to drive it.

Where i am you are only issued with a certificate of compliance.

However for an extra fee on the same day they will also issue a normal mot certificate if one is wanted.

I would be interested to know why?

Or is the LO saying the council test is inferior to the MOT test? :?

If you do not have an MOT how do you go on if you have to produce your documents at a police station?

Used to be the the same here until a few years ago, In January 2001 the hackney discovered they were issuing them illegally. We all had to go get an MOT. The garage trade thought it was xmas again! 1000 or so taxis & PH all needing an MOT at the same time. You couldn't get a local MOT station for love or money. Some had to go as far as Dundee to get their motor MOT'd.

P.O. Used to accept the certificate of compliance instead. They probably still do in other areas.

MOT's are computerised these days and you apply for your road tax on line. The computer checks if the vehicle has a current MOT before you can get the tax disc.
I am not saying that the information is wrong, I just want to know how the system works without an MOT.

As I said, they do it differently here nowadays. Maybe one of our drivers who still use these certificates could let us know.

You get a compliance certificate which takes the place of the MOT certificate.

Both the police and the post office accept that.

Can't see why not as the compliance data goes into the same computer as the MOT data.

If you wanted to sell your licensed vehicle to a private buyer would you need to then get the car MOT'd before the sale?
