Thats the product of the FPTP electoral system, which many would say is unfair. Under PR the result would be infinitely different.

I havent really put much thought into it JD...I still quite like having a MP for my area though.

The above aside, I wonder what the majority would be if Scotland became independant? Last thing I heard was that it was the Scots Labour MP's in westminster keeping the government in power.

That need not change but how many people in the life time of a Parliament have cause to consult their local MP and having done so feel as though it has been beneficial?

I think there are currently 59 Scottish MP's in Westminster. Cameron is in favour of excluding Scottish MP's from voting on English and Welsh legislation.

Perhaps he thinks there is an over provision of Scottish MP's in Westminster in relation to the number of constituants they represent and their numbers should be capped? lol

Quantity control.

I went to see my MP earlier in the year regarding 'O' licenses he was really helpful and got me a nice letter from the minister

I think TBH if the scots and the welsh have their own parliament then they shouldnt have anyone in westminster.

And I note the distinct lack of use of the words 'quality control'

As a matter of interest, what else was discussed at these meetings?

Just the issues on the agendas would suffice.

If you buy me and Mr's T a nice meal and quite a few bottles of wine I will gladly tell you....

Provided they have a real parliament that makes ALL decisions, not just the ones that westminster decide we are capable of making.

These are all reserved for westminster:
Taxation (income tax, VAT, Excise including fuel, Scotch whisky and oil/gas etc)
Defence
Foreign policy (including Iraq, Afghanistan)
Europe

Do you think we should have no say at all in these and other matters which affect our lives?

The Scottish are runing this country now if I am not mistaken.... and certainly cannot make any bigger of a mess than the last plonker....... saved the world while England sinks

So the pro's and cons of Scottish devolution wasn't on the MofM agenda then? :?

Maybe because it's less contentious than the amendments to the 1976 act.
