Fine and points for private hire driver
A PRIVATE hire taxi driver was fined pounds 100 and received six penalty points for picking up a customer on the street.
Nadeem Akhtar, 41, of Abingdon Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday to picking up undercover council officers posing as passengers from Bridge Road, Stockton, in June this year.
In mitigation, Mr Akhtar had no previous convictions and held a clean licence.
