Taxi Driver Online

This is for all hackney license holders for the above areas. I have had it confirmed to me yesterday that chester le street taxis will be permitted to ply for trade in durham city centre. I have been told roughly when this will happen, but no fixed date. I just hope there are some durham taxi drivers read this forum as I feel it is their right to be fore-warned about what is going to happen. As I think it is disgusting that this is being discussed behind their backs. Anyhow I cannot say more as people could lose their jobs if i give too much information. Bit of advice for durham drivers though, GET A PLATE IN CHESTER LE STREET and cash in before your plate price in durham plummits!!!!!

I understand Chester le street has been given the task of coordinating the future taxi licensing plans for the new Unitary authority. Considering the Government are against zoning and they won't allow any more zones, then my money is on the new authority being unrestricted.

Just a bit off topic boys but is Durham and surrounding local councils all merging in time - i know there was a referendum a while ago that i think people voted against but have heard that Derwentside are going to merge too ... is this right ?
