Hi
I have been giving a lot of thought to what happened last week and i am not happy. I was not bullied at the school and i will not be bullied know.
I fell that the cab enforcement had no right to question me on my opinions that i made on a social network web site .As i have said, free speech should be afforded to everyone, i will therefore be taken this further and realize i will have to put up with the consequences.
Calling someone a numpty on a social network web site should not be a crime . Also i still believe if they got their fingers out their arses and worked the weekends we would not have as much problems as we have.
I plan to take my representatives from the DTA,STF and the Unite union with me to ask if this is the norm to spy on peoples opinions or am i being singed out because of my views.
I am also contemplating taking my story to the press as i feel i am being singled out.
Cheers Tony waters

So why have you double posted this thread?

Stationtone - any advice you get from members will be seen by your LO as well - perhaps advice should be given to you by PM?

This post has been transferred from the 'oopsed' & previously double posted thread;

http://taxi-driver.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14999

Well done Mr Waters!!

For a start, I am absolutely amazed, astonished even, that your LA's licensing enforcement officers do not work at night or at weekends.

A HC service or PH service is a 24 hour business. To enforce this view, a HCDL or PHDL does not stipulate any hours of business.

I think in order to help your cause, you should start to amass evidence.

To start with a list of all LAs nationally that perform their duties outside office hours, i.e. those that have a DEDICATED night enforcement team, or who have the dedication to their duty as licensing enforcement officers to arrange their working hour to accommodate night enforcement activities,

I know you are north of the border, but to start your list you should know that Birmingham & Nottingham have dedicated night enforcement activities on a regular basis.

I am sure that, TDO members from around the country will advise you on this thread of other LAs in their area that also have regular night enforcement activities. That way you can build up a list to support your argument for your LA to introduce night enforcement of THE LAW!!

If the majority of your local drivers are of the same opinion as you are, i.e. that licensing enforcement should be introduced for unsociable hours, then I would also suggest that you draft a suitably worded petition.

This petition should be addressed to your LA's licensing committee! You will be petitioning your licensing committee to introduce licensing enforcement activities during unsociable hours, etc.

You will need to find out the prescribed format for presenting a petition to your council & adhere to that format. By doing so, you get maximum effect & leverage.

To give you an example; in Birmingham the petition has to be addressed to Birmingham City Council Licensing Committe, must be presented by a council member, which means a councillor & is always presented at A FULL COUNCIL MEETING. It is not presented to the licensing committee directly. The petition is then noted in the full council minutes & handed down by the full council to the licensing committee to be dealt with by them. I also believe that the licensing committee may be obliged to report back to the full council meeting in due course with the outcome or action taken in respect of the petition.

By presenting a petition to the FULL COUNCIL MEETING, the great benefit for the petitioners is that there is always a strong local PRESS attendance at full council meeting. And if there is substantial 'meat on the bone' of the full council meeting agenda, which is public domain material a few days before every meeting, then you might be lucky with NATIONAL PRESS REPORTERS in attendance.

If you need any help with drafting the petition, or anything else, just email me.

You should also collect as much evidence as possible, in a variety of forms to support your cause.

Good luck Mr Waters.

And finally, remember this!!!

TAXI DRIVERS PAY TAX ON ALL THEIR EARNINGS AND NOT JUST THOSE EARNINGS THAT ARE ACQUIRED BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9.00AM AND 5.00PM!!

And now we are all having to delete posts from the doubled-up thread & transfer them onto this thread.

And that is doubly annoying too!!

If I could get the Cab Inspector or the Council to respond to some of the bile I've written about them, I'd be over the moon. Oh and if they want to question me further, I would give the more abuse just for good measure.

Stationtone, you need to pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Although you should have told them to feck off the minute they wanted to question you about anything. :-|

Tony... being a trade representative is normally by choice... it is a difficult job at the best of times, the longer you do it the more experienced you become... licensing officers and council officials will try to use their council system against you... (you being the novice).
part of what they will do is distract you and make you waste time, and even manoeuvre you into a conflict with councillors..... ignore them... focus on what you have to do... always be polite and professional... beat them at their own game.... and as for being called in.. I personally would take that as a complement...... knowing that my presence was being felt.... and leave it at that for now.... my advice to you is to contact the Councillors that sit on the Licensing Committee, your members the people that you represent will have Councillors representing them... some of them will be on Licensing Committee and by making appointments to see them through your members changes might be made.

Remember people working for the council can always be sacked.

PS..... Sefton has four full-time enforcement officers that work days and nights, and will be employing two more that will enable a full 24 hour coverage... it is also feasible to employ part-time enforcement officers at the time required

John Reilly.

I think your making yourself into a sacrificial lamb. The cab trade are very good at making bullets for other people to fire.

As for night time enforcement, be careful what you wish for, its a two way street.

That's another LA that employs night-time enforcement officers!!

Any more LAs out there that have night enforcement?

What is enforcement? We don't have any at any time. We did have an enforcement officer but she was very rarely seen, but she is on long term sick now so zilch.
