But do they really want the likes of me to grace the HC trade?

Absolutely.

And why should they give a damn? All they want is a lift home or to somewhere else. The average passenger doesnt give a flying f*** what type of license is on the back, and for many, if there is a licence at alll!

They only care when something goes wrong. But thats the norm for most walks of life.

In most places, the freeing of the yoke of limitation of plates, will mean less PH and more Hackneys. The public, in my view, will be better off, and in the longer term, so will we.

THEN HAVE A SINGLE CODE!
Jesus you have it both ways

How do I have it both ways?

And yes, a single code would be fine by me.

Quite right Andy7, but this will not eradicate many of the problems that a single-tier code would have done.

And the DDA will lead to two tiers where there is just one at the moment.

One big problem with the current codes is that legally the concepts are different, but in practice the two have been allowed to overlap too much, partly because the distinction is largely arbitrary in many cases.

As you know I'm all for a single code, but my basic point is that if we have or need two tiers then they should be kept distinct, and we shouldn't have Jonathon Davis playing for Wigan (or whoever!!) and still playing under Rugby Union rules.

Well, sadly Dusty, I have to agree with you, but I still feel the OFT report is going to be at least a step in the right direction.

I feel it will be a step in the right direction, but perhaps not as big as one, as I would have liked.

But if nothing else I don't think there will be any going back to these/those bad old days.

It may be gradual, it may be overnight, but change will happen, cos at the moment it's [edited by admin].

As Paddington Bill might have said.

I don't think old PB has too much to worry about, nor that Motion chap that nobody has a clue about.
