I've just found out that Taxitalk magazine is no longer being published.

Of all the trade mags I found that the best one to read, compared to the rest at least it had some proper genuine comment and articles.

In fact the best taxi related article I've ever read was in an edition of Taxitalk about ten years ago.

It was written by a yellow badged London driver about why he couldn't pick up in his own area i.e. Heathrow Airport.

And I quite liked the Captain's bits, but FFS don't tell him. :-$

That would explain why I didn't receive it this month. I enjoyed reading it as well. :-(

Very sad indeed, as usual the cab trade and leeches that surround it only have themselves to blame.

I thought taxitalk was paid for by trade interests I used to get sent free copies by the taxicentre at one time as part of their advertising campaign so i was assuming that it was the economy to blame or were there things going on behind the scenes that caused the closure ?

They spent a lot of time chasing advertisers that didn't pay - they spent a lot of time being promised adverts that didn't materialise - they spent a lot of time speaking to 'concerned' taxi drivers that were just wanting information whilst not wanting to distribute the magazine.

TDO is an excellent example - how many lurkers are on the site as opposed to contributors?

You never miss it till its gone. Another fine example of the trade expecting everything for nothing. Up against the carpetbaggers there are surely still a majority of decent drivers out there with just not the time or funds to do what they know in their hearts needs to done. A good start to this perhaps would be to try and save Taxi Talk. Always found it a good read without the self promotions found in other publications... probably the most professional Magazine the trade has ever seen...its hard to find a voice to be trusted out there in what is increasingly becoming a wilderness. If enough plead with their voice and their pockets the producers might be persuaded to lift it from oblivion??
