Just got news from Andy Fosher in Retford, a Taxi driver was killed in a accident on Christmas Eve in Retford. The driver was on duty at the time of the accident but was not loaded with passengers.

I'm sure we can all pass our sincere condolences on to his family.

I also saw on one of the news sites that a taxi driver from Dundee also died over Xmas on the roads.

Bless them both.

And here is another one :(

DRIVER KILLED IN ROAD CRASH

Icy conditions were responsible for a fatal crash in Lancashire, the police have confirmed.

Munawar Hussain, 44, from Burnley, died when the taxi cab he was driving slid off the road and smashed into a wall on Burnley Road in Loveclough.

A police spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said: "Motorists need to treat the roads with great care."

Which brings me round nicely to an allied subject,

We have observed a considerable lowering of police presence this christmas, and we are sure a lot less breath tests.

We believe when statistics come out for our patch it will show more accidents , injury and deaths, though we DONT KNOW THAT THIS WILL BE ALLIED TO DRINK DRIVING, as the condition of the roads has been that much worse too, not as much gritting.

has others noticed simular?

the police have confirmed that the taxi driver, jim finch, that was killed on xmas eve was on the correct side of the carrige way unlike the other driver, following police investigations they can confirm that the other car was travelling on the wrong side of the road, the accident was a total head on collision, both had no chance at all, each coming round a blind corner.
