I think you have take into account that many drivers can't change even if they wished too, as there is generally f*** all else out there at present.

But many in the trade love it and wouldn't do anything else even if an openeing appeared elsewhere.

I totally agree. There isnt anything else out there at the moment...

also, after 15 years or more self employed, try getting the required references to apply for a PAYE job!

And there is no security in PH. This is my biggest concern. At least in a Hackney, they have a protective window!!

Dont the hackneys have a protective window that separates the driver and passengers?

The security in PH comes from experience.

If a job looks or sounds iffy, then generally it is. So blank it.

If you think a plastic screen with a pay gap can stop a bullet...

Some of us have been doing this so long, we're not qualified for anything else.
Some are too old and/or too unfit to do anything else, even if we wanted to.

I've got a spreadsheet I can send you that will work out your costs. Do you know how many miles a set of tyres will do? My tyres cost me 0.006p per mile for a full set as a matter of interest!

0.006p over 30,000 miles (say) is 180p. Which is £1.80. For a set of tyres :?

Alternatively, if you assume you get over eight million miles from a set of tyres, that's the kind of figure per mile you'd get
