The additional funding will provide (subject to certain exceptions):

A back payment of 5.4% of invoiced contract transport amounts for March 2022, in response to the rising cost of diesel.
A back payment of 8.5% of invoiced contract amounts for April 2022.
All contract prices will be inflated by 8.5% from 1st May 2022 to provide new rates to invoice at.

The exceptions to the above are:

Any contract tendered for after fuel prices began to rise in early March – including area review tenders. Our view is from March onwards, operators were in a position to price based on higher costs.
Any contract that has recently been varied and that variation has taken account of increased costs.

The 8.5% amount that is being applied is made up of two parts: 5.4% towards fuel and 3.1% annual inflation paid early. This means that no further annual inflation amounts will be applied on the anniversary of your contract, for the remainder of the financial year. For example: if you have a contract that normally has inflation added in September, you will have received the inflation early this financial year and the next inflation award will be in September 2023.

This agreement will include:

A requirement that operators who use owner driver Private Hire Vehicles or Hackney Carriages must ensure those drivers receive the fuel increase element of 5.4% without deduction and must be able to evidence this to the County Council on request.
A minor amendment to the contract inflation terms.
A change to the notice period for Taxi / Private Hire Vehicle contracts from four to nine weeks.
