Does anybody know if it is true? That by November private hire Company and Uber are going to be required to submit drivers worksheets for the last 12 months, And is it true that the Inland Revenue have been taking on large numbers of new staff, anybody know?

Here is the taxi point article about it from November last year that should answer your questions

https://www.taxi-point.co.uk/post/tax-law-all-taxi-and-phv-driver-revenue-made-via-digital-booking-platforms-will-be-reported-to-hmrc#google_vignette

I think the real issue has been that self employment has gone from 1 million in the early 1990s to around 6 to 7 million now and the bulk of those are migrants that have come to the UK in the years since the Blair government. Tax revenues generated from the self employed are probably not much more now than they were in the 1990's because earnings are diluted and many higher earning drivers in our trade have packed it in.

The government can't squeeze more tax revenues out of the PAYE system other than through wage growth but self employment is potentialy the biggest growth area for tax revenues

The first part is true(ish), the second part is a myth.

There is no way there will be a mass of new civil servants anywhere, even if it could be funded by an assumed increase in tax receipts.
