I know i am not alone in thinking that the Private Hire section of our Trade are indeed a growing cancer and, indeed a threat to our very existence thus, i wish to propose to Admin that a PH Section be initiated in order to allow TAXI DRIVERS to debate the TAXI TRADE ! after all, PH Drivers are, or never will be, TAXI DRIVERS ! Lets be honest, most of the TAXI TRADE'S problems stem from PH's and, in my opinion, if we can all quote the Law regarding the differences, why are we so ignorant and hypocritical by allowing PH members to air an opinion on our Trade ?

:-k

I wish people wouldn't use the word "Cancer".

Lets compare whom with immigrants? Shall we have a closer look at areas such as Preston, Bolton etc I wonder how many of their HC drivers are immigrants? Are you anti private hire, anti immigrant or both?

Please don't fall into the trap thinking all PH do is wait around all day to pick up illegally.

They don't.

However if they didn't drive PH they would be driving taxis, and have you plenty of rank space for them to fill? :?

urban myth

the fact is that UNPLATED "hobby taxis" do hacks out of more work than PH's taking flagdowns

plated PHV's cruising for flagdowns stand out like a sore thumb

anyway, shouldnt hacks be sat on a rank, not worrying what they are missing round the corner?

I'd rather compete with them on a level playing field any day ! point being, if any of them (who work in a regulated LA) were offered a Hack plate, i'd put money on not many taking the offer due to costs !
I don't buy into any of their crap ! they love and thrive on the fact that they can do a Hack's job with a cut price investment !

PH and HC cost the same here so where does that leave your case?

my badge is dual PH/HC, if my car was white/meter/rooflight i could have a HC plate

so wheres all this coming from tx_op, if you think waiting on a rank all day is a business plan (while bemoaning folk can source travel using PH's) methinks you need a rethink?

ask the hated PH company for a radio!

What level playing field do you crave for?

In your manor they have saloon taxis and saloon PH. :?

So you have saloon Hcs and WAVs and you have saloon Phvs. To make the playing field level you would either have to turn all saloon phvs into saloon hcs or only allow pre booked fares period with no ranks. I'm sure if they de-restricted completely with saloon hcs the phvs would take the plates, but, I could be wrong cos I'm not quite sure what your system is up there.

Here as a Ph I do ok so there is no need for me to purchase a WAV and it's not down to investment either. I change my vehicle every 3 years, I don't drive cheap cr*p I drive expensive cr*p! It's a matter choice for me, I don't want to drive a WAV. I've got a ph licence, I've got a hc licence and an ph ops licence. I did my research and found I would be better off ph. Perhaps you would be better off doing a business plan like a professional business person would and see which part of the trade you would be better off working in to earn the level of income you so desire.
