The removal of entry controls has the further benefit of encouraging market growth as latent demand translates into industry activity as the number of taxi users increases in direct response to improved provision.
It really doesn't matter how many taxis/private hire you have on the street waiting for a job we still can't drag customers of the street and into the vehicle, that will still be illegal, won't it?
Perhaps the intention is to do with taxis/private hire the same as they did with the buses for example, make it so impossible to run and maintain a service they have to pay subsidies, I wonder how much that'd cost the public purse. Also is there any evidence ever going to be provided by the LC about all these effects they presume will happen

you have a point, but if they're saying new people are going to enter the job - how do they know that?
Sussex says....and I agree, the majority of folks simply go from PH to HC.......that doesnt effect employment at all.
In fact Carlisle's licensed fleet dropped between 1994 and 2012.....from something like 320 to around 220.
Where is their proof?
